Is there a way to play just a genre, like 80's rock? I can navigate to that but can't find a way to just play the entire genre...it just breaks it down to albums, artists and songs.

I don't think so. Play is more like a music store, where as you are thinking of something like Pandora.

There is a way. On the Genres screen, tap the 3-dot contextual menu icon for the genre you want, and select "Add to queue." Then start playing whatever track is displayed at the bottom, and tap on the album cover. This will maximize the player. Now tap the music note icon on the top right, and you'll see your Queue, which is now filled with songs from that genre. To clear the queue, tap the contextual menu at the top right, and select "Clear queue."

There doesn't seem to be a contextual menu on the genre screens. There is for an album (like I could play Guns N' Roses radio) but that's not the same as just a generic rock station.

Not a big deal to me, but still would be nice.

Are you using All Access or music from your My Library? If you're using your own music, the contextual menu icon can be seen at the lower right corner of each genre.

Hmm, looking at the pic you posted, I'm guessing you're using All Access. I'm not doing the free trial, so can't help you at this time.

I noticed that it is not as intuitive as Pandora when wanting to play a genre. However I think it does a good job of matching an artist's style when creating a station based on an artist.

On another note, boy does this app use some data. The app also always stays on, which uses resources and battery. Google services is definitely using more battery than before I signed up for all access.
