Okay so, I bought a nexus 4 that I set up on all my google account's twitter etc.. with all my email information and stuff, but then I noticed that it rattled when i shook the phone so I returned it (to Futureshop store), but I didn't reset the phone back to factory settings or anything (forgot to). So I got a new nexus 4, so then I realized on my google play account it has both devices that are used on the account.

What I'm wondering is, how does it work when you return a phone? Does Futureshop (store) return it to google then google ship to new customer? Will they reset the device to factory settings, so I don't have to worry?
Sorry, I dunno I'm just worried someone will get access to my stuff :[.

Thanks!

I'm not sure if they'll factory reset it or not. But the best thing to do at this point (if you haven't already) would be to change your account passwords (Google, Twitter, etc.) to prevent unauthorized access on that old device.

They SHOULD factory reset before doing anything, but the sad truth is, they don't do this always. I've read cases where people buy a re-fubrished phone or console or computer only to find someone else's data (or porn hehe) inside.

If you left anything stored in the phone like photos or documents, your best bet would be to go to the store, ask for the unit, pray they still have it, and have them perform the factory reset in front of you. As for the accounts, you could either change passwords so that your old phone doesn't get access to those, or you could deactivate such accounts if possible (I know Google accounts in devices can be deactivated from any computer, Facebook I think I remember seeing that somewhere, etc.). But since there are apps that won't let you deactivate them remotely or revoke access from a computer, then you should change the password.
