Cannot send or receive picture messages on my Samsung Galaxy S3

Did you turn on receive MMS messages in the default Samsung Messaging app?
I know it won't receive any MMS messages if this isn't checked, nor sure about sending

Some people have reported that depending on your carrier, MMS may not send via Wi-Fi. So perhaps make sure you're but connected via a Wi-Fi network.

Welcome to Androidcentral! Check the messaging app settings for any file limitations that might be set, or possibly even receipt of MMS messages. If everything looks to be fine and you are still not receiving MMS then download a third-party messaging app from the Play Store, such as Handcent SMS. See if you can then receive the MMS message with the third-party app.

Let us know if you have any luck getting MMS to work.

Everything is ok in my message settings and I have tried a third party app but my phone will still not let me receive or send picture messages. I sent my friend a picture of something almost a week ago and it is still not sending. Please let me know what I can do to fix this!

Welcome to the forums!
Have you tried to resend the message? Sometimes devices try so hard sending a message on a weak signal that they just get stuck.

I had this problem after 4 months of my s3 sending pics just fine. I restarted my phone and that's when I realized my phone was on power save mode. I turned this feature off, and now it works. Hope it helps

I have been looking at forums all morning for my boss and this worked for her... thanks... also... it helped that she walked outside of our fully cinderblocked office were her mobile data could work (^_^)

Apparently you can only see the message center number in the app itself. For the details you need to go to to the phone's generic settings and into "More settings" (under "wireless and network")
then into Mobile networks -> Access Point Names and tap on the access point whose details you want to see.

Why I ended reading this thread was that I had issues only with receiving MMS messages, never with sending. I would receive a notification that there is a new MMS, and in the notification there is a "Download" button - but the download didn't work. It would just start downloading forever. What I found out (thanks to an earlier commenter!) is that the S3 seems to be unable to receive messages via WLAN, and if it was connected to one it wouldn't try downloading via the cellular connection. What helped is that I switched WLAN off before tapping the "Download" button in the notification.

I have an unlock galaxy S3 and can't receive pic messages I have looked at numerous youtube vids and put 3rd party software hand cent and still want download pics changed apn and still no luck. I have internet and can go on line but don't know about 3G/4G capability but get wifi at home with email and internet but want download text pics any help will be great thanks

i had the same issue and after few hours of troubleshooting i figured out the reason i could not received pictures messages. the reason i could not receive them and probably the same reason why most cannot is due to not having data enabled. i am currently on verizon network and most there phones do not allow you to receive pictures via wifi. i assume any carrier that does not offer unlimited data would have this issues with there phones. hope this helps

Well for some reason my wifi for 3G/4G started working today don't know why didn't do anything different and received pic message looked at my phone and the 3G was on the phone then back and forth with H so don't no what to say. But did everything from the post on here and youtube. Hope things work out for everyone else

So I have tried all of the recommendations of the previous threads and all my phone keeps saying when I try and send a picture is "your message cannot currently be sent. Your message will be sent when service becomes available" But I have 3 bars of service and 4G service so I don't know what's going on!

I cannot receive anything like pictures or contact cards. They all come with a download button. I have just turned off wi fi and left just mobile data on and a message can through when i clicked download. Can you tell me why this is and how can I change it ? I didnt have to do this on my Blackberry. I don't want to use up my data allowance obviously ! IF you can help please could you go right back to the beginning, for example I dont even know how to get to settings !! :'(

Ok, so I have now tried all of the above and still cannot download my picture message. Help!
