Nexus 7 wi fi issue

Hi my nexus 7 has just - a week ago - started to give wi fi hassles. I can go to youtube, or internet-based apps like AIB Banking app with no hassle. But I cannot go online with either google, chrome or google +. All that happens is that the search functions but I cannot get any webpage content. No error messages, hangs, anything. Just a blank white page with the website header and even logo. PLEASE can anyone help? I'm getting desperate as this was a present for my wife! :-\

Are you logged into the device with a Google account? Also, does the same happen with the stock browser?

Yes login with google account or stock browser has the same effect. I can search and see results, but I cannot open a webpage.
