HTC One S screen blinks on/off when I'm talking

How come whenever I'm conversing with someone on the phone, my screen blinks on and off whenever I try to use it? Is there a way to fix this? Or is this a hardware problem?

Not a hardware problem its your sensors when you hav your phone in the ear it shuts off but when you move it it blinks because the sensors detect light it happens in every android so say you get a message you take it out of your ear and the phone light up so you can see it if you dont like that you can disable it
