A dark background wallpaper can save power for the SAMOLED phones like the Samsung Galaxy S series (Fascinate, Captivate, Nexus S, etc.) and the Galaxy S II series (Epic 4G Touch). Pure black takes almost no display power but a dark green, blue, or red can take 95% less power than a white background. These dark wallpapers also provide a much higher contrast.

I added links for black wallpaper, dark blue, dark green, dark red, and deep purple in the Extending Battery Life section.

My Avatar

I have some of my favorite apps shown in my Avatar:

Today Widget - Day and date in a 1x1 widget. ($1 Pro version has color options)
→ See Applications.

Battery Status (free, $1 colors) puts your real battery % in the top status bar.

JuiceDefender (free) automatically turns off radios when not in use. Juice Defender Ultimate ($7) adds key features.
Explained by Android Central in an article.
→ See Extend Your Battery - Speed Up Your Phone. Yes, it is extending battery life by 1.9 times.

SwiftKey - Learns how you think and predicts your words saving keystrokes. $4. Free 30-day Trial.
→ See Keyboards.

Battery Left Widget - Learns how you use your phone and estimates battery time left.
→ Yes, my Samsung Epic 4G Touch Galaxy S II really has over 30 hours of battery left.

MyBackup Pro ($5) - Automatically backup messages, bookmarks, homescreens, alarms, dictionary, etc. Trial.
→ See Backup, Restore or Transfer Apps, Files, and Settings.

Try the Dark blue wallpaper to save power by giving high contrast. You can then set to allow a lower brightness.
→ Or try dark green, red, purple, or black. Black takes almost no power on a SAMOLED display.

I?m planning to make a switch form iPhone to Android, ever since I discovered how much more powerful the Android phone is, as opposed to the iPhone. But I think there are a lot more iPhone apps than Android on the current market, so I can?t seem to decide. On one hand, the iPhone has a bunch of cool apps like the ?Picture Music? App, which allows me to convert any picture I take with my iPhone, into actual music and play it back on any instrument. And as a musician I love that, by the way has anyone seen or played around with this app?

I was wondering if any of the Android phone users seen anything like the Picture Music app on the Android market? That would definitely make my transition to Android a lot smoother.

Hi there. I'm looking for a calender app for my Next6....I'm told Jorte is good. But I can't seem to find a site to download it from. All the sites say "you don't have a phone attached to this account". But it's not a phone, it's a tablet. Anyone know if it's even possible to get a calendar app for my Next6? And if so, where??

Hi everyone.. Is there a music app that lets you post the song your currently playing on Facebook or Twitter? Thanx in advance :)

someone please hellppp! First of all I am a nooob! Ok so I have an evo 3d and I used the HTC Method off trying to root it. I followed all the directions to the tutorial and everything went smooth until i had to enter fast boot flash recovery cwm-4.0.1.4-shooter.img. It kept saying sending message or sumthin like that. Finally I got it to go to the revolutionary menu and continued to follow the directions to do something with the .zip file. Then it re booted. SO as of now my phone is unlocked with a s-on. Then i downloaded the ROM manager and downloaded the clockwork mod recovery. I ran the clockwork mod then I backed up my current ROM. Only problem is that there are no files on my sd card of my backed up ROM. OK now also it will not boot into recovery. using quickboot or from the bootloader menu. also in bootloader menu it does a little scan and it always says no image found! please can someone help this is driving me nuts!!!!

Executive Assistant LED Vibration Sound Lockscreen Notifications

Executive Assistant puts your email, texts, missed calls, calendar, tasks, Twitter, and Facebook on your lock screen or in an variety of widgets. Plus Executive Assistant offers reoccuring LED, Vibration, and Sound notifications for missed calls, emails, texts, calendar, Facebook, and Twitter notifications.

For example, Executive Assistant lets you tap on a new text on your lock screen to instantly reply without going into your messaging app. You set how much of the text shows on the lock screen for privacy.

Another nice feature is the Camera app right on the lock screen. Tap it to go straight to taking a photo. Or add your own widgets or app shortcuts to the lock screen.

Executive Assistant is free but has ads. Try it and see what you think. If you like it, support the developer by buying the no ads version.

To customize the tabs shown above, tap Home > Menu > Settings > Configure tabs and set up the ringtones and repeats for each tab you want to use. Use the Summary tab to set general preview options. Set your colors, Lock screen options, and Number to call if found like Barrack did in this example. In a few minutes, your lock screen, notifications, and repeats are just the way you want them.

See the Executive Assistant website for more. Have fun!

The wallpaper and iPhone theme shown in these screenshots are from the Using Folder Organizer to "Theme" Home Screen Icons For Free.

Click Getting Started to return to the main menu.
