Just switched from iPhone to Moto-X and Apple Message is messing up my texting

I just switched from iPhone to Moto-X and Apple Message is messing up my texting. I cannot receive text from people using iPhones now. I can receive text from all other phones but iPhones. I understand that I can erase the imei number off of the Apple server somehow. Any suggestions, this is pitiful that Apple has such a strangle hold over the cell phone world.

Try disabling Imessage on your old iPhone.
