Transferring photo albums from GNex to Nex4, albums not visible in Gallery

Hi. Here's my problem. I've just switched from an unrooted GNex (4.3) to a rooted Nexus4 (4.4), and so far everything has gone well. My last step is to transfer all my photo albums over to the new phone. These albums were separate folders in the storage ("SD card"), not in the DCIM folder. I compressed each folder separately, exported it to Dropbox, imported the .zip file to storage on the Nex4, unzipped it, and all the photos are in the new folder as they should be. However, when I go to Gallery to view them, the albums aren't listed. I tried to refresh the display in Gallery, but that didn't improve the situation. Does anyone have a solution for me? I was under the impression that albums on the (not separate) SD card would be visible in the Gallery just like they are on the GNex. Thanks for any help you can provide!
