Default flashing stock android 2.3 (ginger bread) on htc evo 3D

I currently have ics and sense 3.6, but I wish to go back to stock ginger bread. A friend recommend that i use Odin...

But what is the easiest and safest way to do it ? I am willing to take the risk of bricking (if the risk is not very high) if possible can I do it without rooting ?

Note: I have a pc with a working data connection, tell me what I need.
    Thanks in advance.

If you have a HTC device you will not using Odin. Instead, you'll be using a ROM Utility Update (RUU), which you'll need to find. Search online for the RUU that is specific to your device model and rolls you back to 2.3. You'll be using a computer and need to have the appropriate drivers installed. Hope this helps.

Please be patient with me I'm very new to this fancy stuff. Do I install the ruu on my phone or pc or both ? Will the drivers come standard with the ruu ? What settings must I enable on my phone or what app must I run on my phone ?

And once I instal it do I just follow the wizard ?

Also, do I need to be rooted or s-off before or after I do this ?

note: I want the same Android 2.3 that came on the old galaxy nexus (no asop or anything, just pure Android 2.3 ginger bread)

But is it easier to get 2.3 with HTC sense 3.0 ? If yes then id rather go that direction.

Is this the Android 2.3 gingerbread ruu ?
