During the night the WatchESPN app used 7GB of background cell data on my HTC One while the app was closed. I had used the app the night before to watch the last few minutes of a game, but was on my home wifi, and closed the app but did not kill it.
I woke up to multiple messages from AT&T saying I used all my data and adding another 1GB. In all I have $70 in data overages.
I now know that you can go and turn off background data for specific apps, but it seems like this could be handled at the OS level to stop an abusive app.
Has anyone else experienced this with this or another app?
