Sito backup saved to Google Plus (Photos). Going there and delete the pictures you don't want.

You can do this with the App or desktop via Web browser.

I have checked out Google Plus on my phone, even though I was able to delete the photos there,
they still appear in the Gallery on Auto Backup.
What else can I try? Cheers

Photos will still be saved on the device even though Google photos auto uploaded the Photos. You'll need to delete the photos on the device as well. If you have done that, then the photos you see are likely cached. Just delete the folder the images are appearing in.

As long as you deleted the Auto Backup photos in Google+, you should be able to Clear the Data from the Gallery app, so that when the Gallery repopulates, the Auto Backup folder should be gone. Go to Settings>Apps>All, tap Gallery, and then Clear Data. Then open the Gallery again, and wait for all of the photos to sync again.

When I go to Settings>Apps , I do not have an All appearing on my phone. When I tap Apps there appears the following: Calendar, Chrome, Cloud Print,
Drive, Facebook etc but no "All". So I cannot complete what you instructed me to do to enable Deleting the photos on Auto Backup.

I think you might be opening the App Drawer (i.e., the grid that shows all of your apps, which allows you to launch them). From the homescreen, swipe down from the top with two fingers, then tap the Settings icon (the one that looks like a gear). Then tap Apps, and then swipe two columns over to the right to reach the "All" column.

I struggled with the same dilema. But very easy. Go the Google's own photos app (it's amongst the other apps, a colourfull app) open it, and delete the pics that you don't want. One you do that, you will see that the pics are deleted from the the galary except the auto back up.

Now go to setting, then apps then open the galary app. Here press delete both catches and app data. This will remove the whole backup folder.

    Hope that helped

I just tried it and I didn't, but I didn't create any special databases or anything.

The data that you're clearing is the Gallery app's database of photos, not the photos themselves. When you open the Gallery app again, it will rebuild that database.

when you go to settings-Apps, tap on running application and then you will see All apps option too. tap there and go to gallery and just simply clear data. mine just worked so i m sharing my view with you. if it still appears then delete those images from google+ and your device.

Oh my gosh, I searched every where! So, on the nexus or any android. Go into "Google +" app, then nearest the top there is a thing that says "Everything" with an arrow pointing down, click it; on the bottom left... click "photos" then first click "No thanks" or turn off the auto back up... THEN finally!! You may click on all the photos you'd like to delete.
