I went to the same site via phone, computer, and Ipad...and my ipad in the chrome browser opened it up in a new tab preferred method. On computer using chrome opened in same tab which is ok. But my phone (moto x) just downloaded it. Even if i hold the link for menu, and click open in new tab. it opened a new tab Still just downloads and closes the new tab out. I also tried chrome beta with no luck. My phone doesn't tell me how to open it or what i needed to do next to see it after its downloaded either. (not intuitive enough) Finally saw in notification and clicked there to get a list of apps, which the browser is not listed. This PDF isn't something that I want to keep i just want to view it. and then close the page /tab and be on my way.

Lastly it downloads this file to my phone. How does one find where it put the bogus file that i didn't want to save in the first place, so i can delete it?

Yes I know i could get a better experience probably using some third party apps but i just want it to work at the moment with ease. As my need grow then I'll look for something to fulfill those needs.

Please some android guru helps me

Welcome to Android Central! Chrome for Android doesn't have the ability to display PDFs. When you click on a PDF link, it will download to the Downloads folder. You can find it by swiping down the Notification shade and tapping on the download (or by opening the Downloads app from your App Drawer). You may then be prompted to select an app to open the PDF, and then be given the option of making that the default every time, or just once. There are lots of PDF viewers available, including QuickOffice, which is one of Google's office productivity suites (the one that can directly edit Microsoft Office documents).

Hi, here is how you do it.
1. Uninstall chrome.
2. Install Firefox.
3. Open Firefox -> Tools -> Add-ons
4. Click Browse all Firefox addons.
5. Search for cloud-viewer and install it.
6. Open the your pdf link.
7. Now instead of downloading Firefox will ask if you want to view it online. So click yes and there you go.

Remember first step is really important. ;-)

Hmm...the only 'cloud viewer' in the play store is for "quick and easy access to your Surveillance video." At least this app does not open PDF's.

Hi. I tried adding the Clould Viewer app to Firefox, but it did not seem to help.

Can some please help me?
I need to preview PDFs from within a browser.

I have an android Samsung tab s.
I have the following PDF apps installed & functioning: adobe acrobat, drive pdf viewer, hancom pdf viewer, dropbox pdf viewer.
I have the tried the following browwers, & they all give the same problem: chrome, internet explorer, firefox.

**what I need to do : **
I use a could-base accounting software, Xero.
Bills & receipts get sent straight to my Xero inbox, mostly in pdf format.
Within Xero (within a web browser), a preview of the pdf is supposed to open allowing you to look at the pdf while entering the details from it into the xero accounting program.
This works fine on a desktop computer, but I can't get it to work on android.
The whole idea of the cloud accounting is to keep track of your books while out & about, & not be tied to your office desk ... so this is immensly frustrating.
I can download each pdf to my device, but this is not an acceptable work-around as I need to be able to look at the pdf while working within xero, not constantly flick bewteen different apps. I also don't want all this files clogging up my device or buring up download data.
Please help! Any suggestions??
I have tried contacting Xero support & the 3 different browser supports & none have been helpful at all. In fact the pretty much don't want to know about it.
Please help! Thank you for your time.

(does anyone else find it really weird & a major failing that android (or adobe?) do not support pdf viewing on android?!?!)
