Hangouts MMS issues

I hope this is in the right place. If it's not, I'm sorry. Anyways, today I got the newest update to Hangouts, 2.1.075. I tested out MMS to see if it'd been fixed yet. The good news is, it is. I can send and receive MMS messages as easily as the stock SMS app. However, whenever I receive MMS messages, they're much lower quality than the original. I really want to use Hangouts as my default SMS app, but I don't think I can if it's going to lower the quality of MMS messages. My phone is an HTC One (M7) on Verizon. Any help would be great.

They fixed the inability to send MMS at all. Now they have to fix the inability to send them in high quality. (The picture was under 300kb, right? If it's more than that it's cut down to fit in 300kb, and that gives you lower quality. If you need to send large files put them in Dropbox, Google cloud, Megaupload or somewhere else, and text the recipient the link.)
