picture messaging

Just made the switch from iPhone to Moto X. My wife still has an iPhone and whenever she sends me pictures they come through as videos. I've searched and found that it's a common issue but can't find any solution. Is there one? Thanks in advance.

Is she sending you an MMS or an iMessage? Android phones have to be sent an MMS. (Any phone but Apple phones has to be sent an MMS - iMessage is strictly Apple.)

Yes she is sending an MMS. I think it was just the stock messaging app, hangouts works fine so far and doesn't have that problem. Thanks.
