Why won't this video play?

I use Rock Player and it hasn't failed to play a file yet, until this one.

I downloaded the Rush Documentary and unzipped it It was an mkv file just under 4Gigs. I have a class 6, 16G card

When the file wouldn't play I converted it to mpg. The exact same thing is happening though.

When I try to play the file it runs in a weird slow motion with no sound save for a strange high pitched noise.

Also, in the rockplayer list of videos, nothing precedes the file name. Every other file has what looks like a directors "cut board" with the type of file listed (avi, 3gp).

Lastly, it lists the file as just 7 seconds long.

Any ideas?

Can you try to convert the mkv to 3gp and use the default player?

I'm gonna try that now

edit: looks like my converter is mostly for the PS3. It doesnt give me 3gp as an option so I selected avi. But, then I got a message to the effect that I'm only renaming the file extension not changing the file container.

That lingo is way over my head. I'm trying it anyway.

edit: avi file failed as well. Same weird slow mo garbage and file lists as being 7 seconds long despite it being nearly 2 hrs
