Music fades when receiving text notifications?

I recently downloaded a great sms app named Textra. However, one thing drives me nuts: If I'm listening to music and get a text message, the music fades for the notification. No other app that I have does this except Google Maps when giving directions (which I like). Is there a way to stop the music from fading when I get a text notification (or is that an issue that only the app developer can deal with)? It's quite annoying when I'm driving and listening to music.

You can mute the phone. That will stop the notifications, and allow music to keep playing. Otherwise this is probably a change only the app developer can make.

Thanks. I figured out a great solution using Tasker. Created a profile to automatically mute notifications when media is playing.
