So Google hangouts uses data to call not the mobile carrier? So confusing........ Uggh... Love the fact u can have one icon for calling and sms but paying for talk an text should be using it.... Is it to much to ask for a sms that I can customize without spending $$$$ OR downloading multiple app themes to add on it??? Is it really??!!?

Tried textra was ok, chomp was ok, go sms pro was favorite but themed cost $6.99 but like that you can be involved in something receive a message reply and not even leave the page your on i know the other two do this but go sms pro is the better of three ... Only if hangouts wasn't the way it is I would use it solely based on the one icon !!!!

Google Hangouts DOES let you select which number you want to use. You can either use Google's service to call (which uses data but saves on roaming fees if you're abroad and on WiFi) or just slide the selector to the right and you can use your regular voice plan. Simple.
