Gmail Custom 'From' Address

Just recently got a myTouch and I'm trying to set up all my email to run through Gmail. The problem I am having is, I use the new Custom 'From' Address feature for my email associated with personal and work domains. I have set up the custom SMTP servers per the gmail help topic on setting up custom 'From' addresses. They work perfectly in my web based gmail interface, but I can't seem to find a way in my gmail app under Android to allow me to choose which account to send from. If I reply to a message that came in on a custom account it sends on that account, but if I try to start a new thread/message the only address I can send from is my @gmail.com address. This doesn't work for my business email when I need to send from @mydomain.com... Anyone have any idea how to choose a custom from address in the Android gmail app? Thanks in advance

i just bought my first android and have this problem. did you ever find a solution on the phone side of things?
