Why has Gmail stopped sending email notifications?

A question about Gmail, emails in regards to my cell phone

My cell phone is a ZTE Warp 4g n9510. Is there a way to stop Gmail from sending email notifications to my cell phone without dropping the hole account from my cell phone. I check my Gmail, email account at lease once a day from my laptop at home. I don't get any emails that are that important that I have to deal with it while I am away from home. They just clutter up my phone and I end up with a bunch of email address's in my important phone numbers list. 90% of the emails I get are just junk and spam anyways.

Which email app are you using--Email or Gmail? In the Gmail app, open it, swipe in from the left, tap Settings, then your Google account, then uncheck Notifications. It should be similar in the Email app.

Thanks for the help B. Diddy I was using the default Gmail.
