Three Short Questions about transferring data to a new phone & contact management

I am going to move from a Razr M to a Samung Galaxy Alpha.

I would like to start from scratch with my "People" and phone contact data. The data is currently all mucked up with people, e-mails and phone #s that have come in from LinkedIn and other Google apps.

Three questions: 1. How do I make sure I am starting from scratch?
2.How do I protect my phone & "People" apps from people/numbers I do not want?
3. Does anyone have a suggestion for good 3d party contact manager that I can use to store name, address, phone and e-mail, and to launch calls, texts and e-mails?

Thanks!

Reid

Re: Three Short Questions about transferring data to a new phone & contact management

Google contacts, already built into your phone, is fine. Your Android phone was built to run on Google apps and services.
You can export any of your old contacts to a CSV file, then import that to Google Contacts. Once there, you can edit, delete, and find and merge duplicates. It's easiest on a laptop or desktop - once you have it the way you like, just sync it to your phone.
