Hi, Before we go any further, I do have an SDCARD inserted and mounted :-)

As far as I can see (when its problematic) it can be accessed by some android applications but not by others:
* the Camera gived the message in this post's subject line
* Memento says "Sorry, your SD card is busy"
* J Bench Mark 1.0, successfully writes 10MB to the card
* LauncherPro can make backup of homescreens

If I make it available for "memory card access" it appears to be fine in windows and a chkdsk doesn't detect any issues. It is FAT32 and I have used about 400MB of 8GB.

I've had the phone for the while but these issues only for the last month or so, I seem to need to boot once or twice to get it to work so it could be a software issue with something I installed or the latest Motorola Milestone 2.1 update.

From Log:
12-10 14:14:06.228 D/vold ( 1037): Filesystem check completed OK
12-10 14:14:06.236 I/vold ( 1037): Sucessfully mounted vfat filesystem 179:1 on /sdcard (safe-mode on)
12-10 14:14:06.236 D/MountListener( 1270): handleEvent volume_mounted:/sdcard
12-10 14:14:06.291 D/UsbService( 1359): onReceive(), received intent:android.intent.action.MEDIA_MOUNTED

Is there a required "system" directory that may have gotten corrupt etc?

Any ideas? Thanks for any ideas...

have you taken the card out checked for dust on the connectors.
perhaps maybe the phone was dropped and somehow the card is not sitting correctly.

Just throwing stuff against the wall....

Thanks, clearing camera data didn't make a difference but will clear again and reboot and see if it occurs again.

Could also be a defective card. Have you tried any others?

No, don't have other cards but J Bench Mark 1.0, successfully writes 10MB to the card, and a reboot "fixes"
