Plugged in while using battery hog apps?

I am wondering if it is okay to have your phone or tablet plugged in while using apps like Netflix, Youtube or streaming music apps like Play Music, Tune-In which drain the battery a lot? Is it okay to have your devices plugged into something like a USB AC adapter or a external battery pack if it will harm the battery?

It's perfectly OK. It will depend on your charger and how your device handles charging while in-use, however, if you'll see the device actually charge or if it will only discharge slowly (if you ask for more power out of it than what the charger can supply, then you'll see the battery go down, not up). But one of the most common cases of 'use while charging' is, indeed, movie-watching.

I agree with Spook. Just make sure your phone doesn't get very hot.
