I think I found, at least for me, the solution to the KitKat 4.4.2 write to extSD card fix failure on rooted phones/tablets.
Kept getting an error stating that my rooted tablet wasn't rooted and ES File Manager required such to write to the extSD card.
After doing more research on the net I found suggestions to replace the existing microSD card being used with another and reformat it. Took the microSD card I had, that I thought was good, mounted in the tablet and replaced it with a known/tested good card. Reformatted the card to ntfs format and remounted it in the tablet. Bingo! Works like a charm!! Can now write to the card with no problems at all!
If you're still having the fix failure I was give this a try! Hope it works for you too!
