Barcode Scanner problems - just trying to get it to work?

I have a generic tablet 7 inch.. With 1.3MP camera.. Android OS 1.6 (would like to get updated).

Now when I open the app. There is a red line across the entire screen.. Nothing else.. I have tried many scanns but it the red line just blinks. States at the bottom of the screen , Place a barcode inside the viewfinder rectangle to scan it.. SO WHAT DO I DO?

What barcodes have you tried? Is the lighting bright and even without the barcode being washed out?

What app are you using? The barcode scanner from the Market?

barcode scanner 3.51. Tried different shades of lighting. funny thing I thnk is that the screeen is just black with a red line flashing at the bottom of the black screen when app open it states place a barcode inside the viewfinder rectangle to scan it. Isn't is supposed to be showing an image of what i am scanning, not a black screen? tried the shoppersavy scanner also but would not install. mind u i have OS 1.6 .. Any ideas let me know.

tried 3.51 and 3.52 and 3.53 beta

I get a black screen with a red light flashing. For all 3 versions.. i have a front camera 1.3MP.. any ideas.?
