Need help for international calls over wifi

Im going to puntacana for 4 days and i will have wifi there and my evo and want to be able to be contacted from my house and maybe contact my house as well cause my mom is watching my daughter. wost case ill leave my laptop on at my house and maybe use skype voice wich i think would be free. any advice?

Get a Sipgate number, install fring or 3CX on your your phone. Get the SIP settings from your sipgate account and enter them into your fring or 3cx account. If you leave these apps running, one of them should be able to ring when someone calls you. Hope it helps.
You can use the nettalk app to call home on wifi too.

Doesn't skype voice work for this? Or are we just trying to shave some nickels here (as I think skype will maybe cost a few pennies, right)?
