Why can't I listen to audio whiile navigating with Google Maps?

I have a 1st-gen Moto G (Verizon variant) running Kit Kat 4.4.4.

Whenever I listen to audio (primarily podcasts through PocketCasts or Play Music) and try to use navigation with Google Maps, one of the two crashes. It is whichever app is running in the background. So if I am listening to audio, turn by turn navigation starts, the audio app crashes. I go to the audio app and start the audio again. Once I do that, Google Maps, which is running in the background, crashes.

Does anyone know how to fix this? I can't seem to find any solution for this...

There were many reports of Moto G users having these memory problems. For most of them the fix just came after updating to Lollipop.

You could try a couple of things.

- Wipe the cache partition in recovery mode.
- Check in settings - apps - running who's taking most of your ram.
- Disable or uninstall any third party ram manager that you downloaded.

Let us know if you need any help with that. I'll try to find the old threads about this issue.
