Trying to sign into a valid gmail account. Why isn't it working?

Trying to sign into a valid gmail account.

A little blue house icon appears and password doesn't work. I had verizon phone validation as a second step to security. After I entered the code verizon sent...a little blue house icon appeared and can't sign it with it on the left of the password box.

Welcome to Android Central! Which phone? What are you trying to sign into--the stock Email app? The Gmail app? Some other app? Or are you just trying to sign into the phone itself?
