Getting icloud disconnected message when trying to sync from dead iphone

I am trying to import my contacts from icloud into my Samsung & keep getting a message "icloud disconnected"
I am hooked up to my wifi & downloaded the Smart Switch app as noted on Samsung's website, but why do I keep getting this message?

Hi,

I keep getting the same thing it is driving me crazy i now have a samsung s6 with no contact or anything. My old iPhone i traded in so now i am truly screwed Ahhhhh.

Everyting time i try it accepts my cordentals and asks me what i want to transfer, it then connects get to either 1% or 3% and then ays icloud dissconnected (Check your network connection and try again) but there is nothing wrong with my connection.

I did have a feeling it maybe something to do with the fact i was running beta 9 on my iphone 5s but just dont know. Someone must have had this problem before and resolved it, any help would be soooooooooooo appreciated.
