How to have Hangouts read my messages using text to speech
It has been a year since I came over the iDark side ;-)
I own a Moto X 2014 running Lollipop 5.1.
Listening to Android Central made me switch.
One thing I really really miss from iOS is that ability for Siri to read back text messages back to me using text-to-speech (TTS). This feature is extremely useful when driving.
I know that the Moto X has some TTS playback feature - but it works only for SMS messages *not* Hangouts messages which I use all the time because it is multi-platform.
I have tried using some software (name of which I can't remember) but it would drain the battery as it would hook itself onto the notifications system and always be on.
Unless this is some kind of patent that Apple has, I can not believe that Android does not have this feature built in.
Of course I could switch to SMS; my car does playback SMS messages as I drive. I would need to get MightyText which appears to be multi-platform (including my Nexus 9 tablet that replaced my iPad) but this looks more like a plan B...
Thanks guys (and girls)
