Can I get some help with a setting problems?

I set a selected ringtone for the message notification for my wifes contact, yet it still uses the general one I set for all other text messages. what do I need to do?

Welcome to the forums. What device do you have? Have you tried setting the tone with a file manager app? Sometimes that works better.

I have the galaxy s6. On the S3 I just went under edit for her contact and set it there. The s6 seemed to be identical but it wont play the sound I have it set at. it plays the general one I set for the phone.
