Why can't my phone be found by any service provider?

my phone cannot be found by service provider

i've used straight talk on numerous occasions before now, and it's not the PIN that isn't working, but rather that it won't acknowledge my phone exists. ( claiming it 'can't find my phone number' on the website, and it takes me to a verizon help center when i try to use the calling method ). is something wrong with my phone? do i need to do something to it? i'm both frustrated and upset, and a speedy response would be appreciated.
