Synchronizing my Phonebook with my car

I drive a new Acura RLX. I have been a Blackberry user and have never had any issue uploading my phonebook to the car. I recently switched to an Android phone. The phone connects via Bluetooth. The phone works and the handsfree is fine but I cannot synchronize my phonebook. Any suggestions?

Welcome to Android Central! Which phone? When you pair the phone, does it ask you on the phone to approve of the phone sharing contacts?

Also, open Contacts, tap Menu>Contacts to Display, and instead of selecting All, select Customize. Now select the groups you want to display (which can be all of them, if you want). I had to do that with a Nexus 5 pairing with a 2008 BMW.
