problem with syncing for nexus s 4g google samsung phone using android version 4.1.2

Specifically "sign in error for cindy (myself) It asks me to retype a password, when I attempt to type password, another pop-up window comes up and says "unfortunately google search has stopped" It allows me to select 'report' or 'ok'. When report is selected, it goes to password but will not allow me to type in password.
