Why does my phone keep downloading the same emails after they have been deleted from phone?

why does phone keep downloading the same emails after they have been deleted from phone

I want to keep the email on server. I have set to only keep 100 emails. Now every couple days it downloads all the server emails again and then deletes them. Over 600 emails! this is using up my data and phone resources for no reason.

Welcome to Android Central! Who's your email provider? It sounds like you're using a POP3 email server, which is an older protocol, and leads to issues like this. Check to see if your email provider has an IMAP server, and use those settings instead. See here for the difference: IMAP vs POP3

Also would help to know what phone you have and what email app you're using.
