Why are my apps not showing up?

hey im new to the android os and 1 thing i want is the youtube app. So i went into the play store and searched the play store for the youtube app. it said installed, so i opened the app drawer (the button in the dock that opens a grid of apps) but when i opened it the drawer it wasn't there. I could find it if i went to settings>apps>All and i wanted to know if i could somehow make a shortcut to it. thanks.

Some phones have settings to allow you to only see certain groups of apps (all, carrier specific, downloaded, etc.). Check to see if that may be the issue. When you open the app drawer, you may see a settings button that takes you to these options.
