Why does the phone go to the phone app instead of the home screen at power on?

I would prefer my phone go to the home screen when it's powered on.

Hi, do you mean after the lock screen? Have you recently updated your phone? After lollipop there are different actions triggered from the lock screen depending on which direction you swipe.

Right - open the dialer.
Left - open the camera.
Up - unlock and home screen.
Down - expand notifications.

I just purchased a Motorola Droid Turbo from Verizon. As soon as it was activated, it started powering on to the phone app. I'd rather not have to hit he home button to go to my home screen when I turn the phone on. I've looked in settings but I can't find any setting that would allow me to fix this.

Also, it goes to the phone app no matter what app I was using when the phone was turned off.
