Getting repeated notices that google play services stopped

Every 5 seconds a notice will pop up saying unfortunately Google play services has stopped

Go into settings, Apps or Application Manager. Find Google Play services. Try to erase data and cache first. If this doesn't help, Uninstall, then see if you get prompted to update. If not, open Gmail, Google, or hangouts that require the updated version to get it to prompt the update.
