I just signed up to add this. I searched & tried everything I could find online to no avail.
The "fixes" basically wanted me to delete things I didn't have or to access things I didn't have. Or, if I did have it, it didn't help.
The first error came after my Lollipop upgrade. To the effect, "you must sign in to authenticate"-- but then it couldn't connect to Google servers. I did a bit more mucking around & finally repleced that error with, "cannot connect to accounts.google.com".
I removed my gmail acct. based on one "fix", but then the above would not allow me to re-create it!
Ok, fix is this: hopefully, you have Chrome installed on your mobile. If not, get the apk via computer, transfer to mobile, & install it. Then, open Chrome & go through it's sign-in. After that, the error's gone & Play works again! Yay!
I hope this helps someone else out there who are pulling their hair out!
