OTT TV BOX stuck on standby

I purchased the Android KitkatOTT TV BOX 4XCPU 4XGPU MXQ. I have properly plugged it in and the remote's batteries work but the box stays on standby (little red light rather than turning blue when power is pressed). It is not a plug issue. It is not a TV issue. It appears to be a remote issue. Does the remote have to be synchronized with the box or something?

I have tried a hard reset to no avail. My searches online have a few people with the same issue but no real solution that I was able to find. I am pretty discouraged by the lack of support from Android thus far.

I don't know how to fix your device but I can tell you Android is an operating system used in this instance by companies in China to produce these boxes. Therefore, you won't get any support from Android, nor should you expect it. I would take it up with the people you bought the box off, for support.
