why wont phone stay connected to wifi away from home wifi

when I leave my house I lose connection when I used to stay connected continuously.

Connected to what wifi? Is that router still in operation? Is it still in the same location? Have any changes been made to the area (like a new building blocking the signal)?

Wifi doesn't come to your phone from your provider, it comes from routers maintained by people who maintain public routers, like McDonalds and Walmart. If whoever you were getting your wifi signal from is no longer providing an open wifi signal, you don't get wifi there. (If you were connecting to someone's home router and they found out that people were connecting to it, they could have closed it, so no one but them can connect to it.)
