LG mobile support tool is stuck at downloading software, how can I get past this?

lg mobile support tool is stuck at downloading software

i downloaded the lg mobile support tool to update the software on my lg p970g then i installed the USB driver the tool recognized my phone and said there is an available update but when i click start updating it gets stuck at downloading software. im not sure if im not waiting long enough but there is no bar indicating how far along it is and i have left it for about 45 mins and nothing happens?

Wait about another 20-minutes. If it doesn't change then disconnect and try again. If still the same problem uninstall everything then re-install fresh and try again.
