Using a PTP USB connection as a pseudo scanner

I have a Windows program I am testing and don't have a true scanner so thought I would use my phone like a scanner. I connect using PTP and hit scan on my Windows App but it basically starts downloading every picture on my phone and I can't control the content I want it to consume. Is there some sort of app that can get around this? I tried the camera and a barcode app but it does not seem to be able to take over the PTP stream/connection. Anyone have any ideas on this perhaps?

In an nutshell I want windows to think that a scanner is attached to my PC with my phone connected. I am thinking I could potentially have the camera app running or direct it to a file, hence a pseudo scanner. Is that possible? Yes I can scan barcodes but windows is not fooled into thinking that is a scanner and drawing in the in the input. Know what I mean?

It seems like you want a custom feature that needs to be built into your program. Is this a Windows program you developed?
