Cross posted on Samsung GS7 Edge forum, hope that's OK. Just got this awesome phone and am very happy, except for one big thing. All of my family are iPhone users, as was I. We used to have a family group text going, and I had a few others. But now I don't seem able to do it! I use Textra on the phone, and I have mighty text linking phone, nexus tablet and computer. Any suggestions? I really miss chatting with my kids. Individual texts seem fine and my messages to the group go out. I just can't see the replies.

Everyone in my family are iPhone users, and I just made the switch too. By far the worst part of the switch is no iMessage. Not being able to send HD videos through text almost has me switching back to an iPhone. Anyway, I had the same issue. First disable iMessage on your phone: https://selfsolve.apple.com/deregister-imessage. Next I had to make a new group text and make sure everyone uses the new group text and not the old one.

You're best off keeping it all in one thread.

This is an iPhone issue. All your iPhone people will need to delete your contact from their phones and re-add it. They will also need to create a new group chat using the new contact as the previous group chat had your entry tagged as an iMessage user so you won't get delivery from the chat.

You de-registered your phone number from iMessage, right? https://selfsolve.apple.com/deregister-imessage

I did not know about deregistering with Apple. Thanks for the link! I did what it said, and the reply was I am not registered. OK, I guess that's good. For the next step, I just sent a text to all my family asking them to delete me from their idevices, then add me all over again. I hope this does it.

Thanks for your help! I love Android, I wish Apple didn't make life so difficult.
