Why won't my phone connect to my PC?

[AC Question]

when I connect my phone to my PC via USB I keep getting the following message on my phone:

Allow access to device data

an MTB connection will be established to access the data on the connected device

deny allow

no matter how many times i hit allow, it just keeps popping up and i can't access my files.

Welcome to Android Central! Which phone? Have you tried using a different USB port on the computer? Make sure you're not using a USB hub.

Also, try using a different USB cable.
