Why do the pics from my Samsung Galaxy phone come out 2 square on the pc?

why do the pics from my samsung galaxy phone come out 2" square on the pc

I have always got the pics from my phone on to my pc by removing sd card and putting it in and adapter, then put it into the slot on my printer.
This has always worked great, the pictures look nice and big and clear.
But have just realized that the more recent pics that ive put onto my pc from my phone come out about 2 inches square and if i just zoom in the pic quality is poor.
Does anyone have any ideas as to why this could be. ????????

Samsung phones sometimes automatically change the size of the pictures when you are running low on storage space. Once that happens you need to go into the camera settings and change it back to the maximum size. To do that you should open your camera, tap on the gear icon, and find the image size options.
