S3 smashed - where are my voice notes?

It finally happened. After all the years cell phones have been available, I finally smashed a phone to the point that the screen is inoperable.

When my SIM card was in, I did a full backup of the phone folders so that I wouldn't lose all the phone info. Most everything else was already saved on SD Card. But...looking through all folders, I don't see any voice notes. I have some very important stuff that I need to keep the copies, but I can't do that til I find them.

I tried looking on my damaged S3 again today, but with no SIM card installed and my PC isn't showing it in the PC directory.

Help?

Voice notes are in a database in a non-user-accessible folder. You need a working screen and knowledge of SQL (and of which database file you're looking for) to save the notes.

When I view my phone folders on a PC, I can see a Voicenotes folder on both the SD Card and Phone memory. Why are the folders visible, but the voice notes themselves aren't?
There must be some way of me getting into them and copying them at least. Yes?
