How-to upgrade Coolpad 3300a to Marshmallow

Want instructions on how to upgrade this particular model. Have checked many D/l sites for an upgrade, but none list this model of Coolpad. Right now it's running Android 4.4.4 and, it seems to me, since it's Android, I should be able to upgrade even though "upgrade status" says it's at latest O.S? Maybe (?) this model does not support an upgrade? Not enough forums dedicated to Coolpad products.
Thanks:
Rick

If this is a low end/budget phone, then you may be out of luck. Even though it's Android, only the Nexus line gets the pure Android OS. Updates can't be applied across the board, but instead have to be officially released by the manufacturer or carrier. Each model device will have it's own tweaks and tunes that the manufacturers and carriers put on their devices, which is why you can't easily update. For the average user, if there's no update via the stock update checker, then you're out of luck.

The more popular phones may have other options developed by the various communities, such as custom ROMs. These are done at your own risk and can brick the device if you do it the wrong way. Lower end budget phones typically don't get these kinds of community developments, and I wouldn't suggest randomly trying the instructions for even a similar device in hopes that it applies to you. For example, the method to root and gain those kind of access on a phone from carrier A could be different than that same phone from carrier B. Yes, they are the same device, but the firmware could be different enough that you have to try a different way on each version.

Afternoon Mooncat:

Thanx for responding. Yes, it's true; it's a low end phone. I'm really surprised it wouldn't upgrade right along with any other, but your explanation was informative. Next, I'll contact the manufacturer to see if they have or plan on upgrading. Was going to use Android Magnet, but they do not list this phone as a "compatible" candidate. BTW, the Android Magnet seems almost TOO easy? So, next, I'm off to see what a GalaxyS5 will cost me. Why a Galaxy 5 you may wonder?....S6 & S7's are completely sealed, thus when the battery dies (3 - maybe 4 yrs), you have to ditch the phone! I wonder if these damn so called conveniences are really worth it? Oh, but hey, if not for these, how would I be able to 'see" what's in my refrigerator??????
Thanks Mooncat:

I'm with you on sealed batteries, for similar reasons. Technically, they can be replaced, but are tricky and usually need to be sent to a repair shop.

If it's that big of an issue for you and want other options besides the S5, check out the LG line of phones. They still offer removable batteries.

Hey MOONCATT

Oh, I think I'd like to stay with a GS5. Seems they are a prety good phone (?) Anyways, right now it's not an issue. Back to this minimal phone I'm using presently. (Coolpad 3300a) In the 'manual" it shows the charging port as a "mini USB port". If so, why can't I get a penndrive to show up? Yes, this phone is capable of a 32Gb SD card, but I have many pendrives already loaded with the music I prefer. So, why spend $12 if...supposedly, I could use the mini USB post for a pendrive? Any ideas/thoughts?
Appreciated:
Rick

Unfortunately no. I'm not familiar enough with connecting other devices via the USB port, so I can't help with the pen drive issue.
