Ceased downloading upon browser exit

I bave a galaxy s6 running 6.0.1.. Question is, why does video downloading stop when I exit the browser(chrome)? No issues when downloading music. Also, there is no option to resume the download

Welcome back! Which site are you trying to download videos from? It might be a site-related issue. Or it could be related to the much larger size of a video file, compared to a music file.

If the browser is being used to download a file, it will stop downloading if you exit or close the browser. Some browsers have a download manager that remembers where you left off and will continue downloading when you reopen the browser.

But I wonder why the browser would still finish downloading music files even after exiting it?
