Rooted MyTouch 3g 1.2 stuck on boot screen

My mytouch randomly went into the boot screen one day. HBOOT is highlighted blue and underneath it says <BACK> FastBoot Mode, but pressing back does nothing. cant even turn phone off or restart (have tried volume down, home, all the combos).

have you tried to download sappimg.zip and place it on the root of your sdcard? it will factory reset your mytouch 3g and it will be on android 1.6
