Just purchased a cheap case from ebay for my band new galaxy tab 2 9.7. I have a very similar case for my old tab 2. The new case fitted just fine with all controls easily accessible and nothing covered over such as camera or sound holes. So when tab is in case after a short amount of time the screen goes off and controls do not work. Take tablet out of case and it works with no problems. Contacted Samsung and the said that they had reports of this problem b4 but could not offer me a reason why this was happening. There advice was to purchase their case (£30). I looked at their case and noticed that the back of the case was An open design so wondered if it was over heat problem with ebay case. Decided to cut out back of case to se if it made any difference. No it still shut down but noticed if I opened up the back to the light the screen came straight back on again. Removed from case and laid it flat on pillow and it worked fine. I’m baffled so any ideas what’s going on.:-

Does the case have any magnets? That might be the reason. Some cases have poorly-placed magnets or magnets that are stronger than what is spec'd for the tablet and that causes interference with the internals. Most 'popular' case was Note 10.1s not being able to pull down on the notification shade and seeing distortion while using the S-Pen near the magnets.
